New Beginnings

One of my TMB (take my breath) moments came this year when I moved halfway around the world to work with a non-profit. The place my family found for me has a garden in the front courtyard! Can you guess what gift I gave my landlord, Mani G?

It is spring here as well as in the US, yet rain evades the land and the water table is exceptionally low. Thankfully, almost every household uses a well for watering. The soil consists of rocks, sands and debris from the mountains, called Lacustrine, and is not very fertile for growing. So the local people add cow dung and other components to add nutrients to the soil for planting.

The pictures are of two different gardens right across from each other. You can see the prep and care of one and the simplicity of the other. I will watch them grow and send you follow up photos as we pray for rain.

Meanwhile, remember, we cannot over emphasize the importance of tending your garden. As an entrepreneur, educator, and want-a-be author, I look at the whole person and all that is around us. How can I be the best me (my inward garden) and how can I help others be better (the outward garden) and sometimes this includes digging in the dirt, planting seeds, and watching it grow. Another TMB moment.
